Seeing how much fun people have modding brawl, it would be nice to see them just letting it be open instead of it being a fight. To answer your question, I don't believe Nintendo will let that happen, but I would very much like the idea. Everything both you and I have to say about this topic is just opinion so it would have been best to just answer his question is reason instead of blowing up at him about what you think a game should be.
Personally I've seen a LOT of brawl tourneys with simple changes like modded music and small stage changes still keeping a 'real competitive' edge.
The online community that involves game mods wouldn't like it too much to hear that everything they are doing is just a complete and other waste of time just because they like to do something about what they dislike on a game.
